Firstly many thanks with the help for my oil leak on my TF, all sorted now.

I have a second motor not an F/TF but a freelander 1 1.8 K series engine...... Now this has an annoying problem with loss of coolant not into the oil with no obvious signs anywhere else also has a erratic tick over engine hunting to the point you see and feel the vehicle bouncing. Dare I ask for help on this forum !!!!

Same checks for all k series.

How old is the hippo??

If it's got a plastic inlet it might be worth looking at the gasket letting water into the inlet.

Take each plug out and see if ones gummed up more.

its a 2001 with plastic inlet, would it be worth changing it for an upgrade?

I don't regard the alloy inlet as an upgrade - it's just different. The plastic inlet is lighter and doesn't need a support bracket. Some experts think the plastic inlet provides a bit more torque lower in the rev range. I'd take it off, check that its face is not distorted with a steel ruler then if it is straight, put in a new gasket (about £1).
