Nightmare of an afternoon. Car in traffic started to really over heat. Got out of traffic and pulled up in tescos car park. Car really hot, oil temp in red. Got out and checked oil and water. Oil non existent but still had water. Went into tescos came out. Keys locked in boot!!!!. Started to rain heavy (of course) smashed back light got keys topped up oil and water. Drove home all temp normal.
So my thoughts are fan not cutting in when sat in traffic.
Have to take car in next week to see what damage has occurred.

A frustrating afternoon - we had problems with overheating last summer in the Alps which were resolved by topping up the oil from just below minimum to absolute max. In similar conditions with fresh full oil we had no issues this summer.

Yes if you put your afternoon on video.....it would be classed has a horror film
