Matching oil temp and pressure gauges. was created by David Aiketgate

Took out the clock and original oil temp gauge and fitted this pair that nicely match the plasma dials.

Only hitch is the sensors are both 1/8 NPT and don't fit. The originals are supposed to be 1/8 NPT, but are actually a larger thread.

Where are you getting the oil pressure signal from?

Connected it to the oem oil pressure switch.

The temp gauge is connected to the oem temp sensor too. :broon:

So the oil warning light pressure switch gives an analogue output?

Sorry John no prize for you.
Type R is the name of the gauges... :P

edit John, TBH, I have no idea what the pressure switch is outputting but thought I'd try connecting it and seeing what happened. That's until I can get a couple of thread adapters.

I was hon da wrong track there......... :coat:

Unless things have changed, oil pressure warning light pressure switches are digital output: either o/c or c/c. We are talking MG though....

To give a gauge analogue reading I'm guessing that a piezo transducer would be avaiable. Gone are the days of a hot oil impulse pipe from the block to the dash. Always a larf when the pipe bust...... :yesnod:

It will be all right in the end. If it isn't all right yet, then it is not yet the end..

Hmm, I've now found some contradictory information that the oem thread is M12x1.5 not 1/8NPT. :-?

Does anyone know what the thread actually is?

I dunno, and in case nobody else does....... Thread pitch gauges are about a fiver or so.

Failing that, fastener suppliers will measure for you, assuming there's one nearby.
Having worked in Seascale recently, I know it's a bit bleak in Cumbria!

It will be all right in the end. If it isn't all right yet, then it is not yet the end..
