Your garage owner is probably not used to seeing one that is well looked after. As the price of MGF / TF is so low, many people buy them as a bargain basement ride and don't spend money looking after them properly which leads to them falling into disrepair.

The reputation of the F / TF will, I fear, sink lower still until the only ones remaining are in the hands of enthusiasts.

It's a nice feeling that clean MOT certificate...my MGF got one too on Tuesday.
