Removing CAT 10 years 1 day ago #142350

Good evening chaps/chappettes,

Preparing effy the F for her return to the road again this summer and I bought a lovely ss decat.

Now I've spent the best part of 2 days laid under her swearing a lot.

X2 nuts removed. 1 round off and the other 3 near the bent side don't even resemble nuts.

Is there an easy way to get it off? :( I could grind them but not the top X2 as it's too tight access wise.

I had to grind all 3 off at the back box end. But I have a TF so they are more accessible. Had to grind the top right one at the other end, and that's the same on the F. So it is do able. If you can get that end done you could take the back box off with the cat still attached. But you can expect to find the bolts that hold the exhaust hanger rubbers in a fairly rusty state.
Some of the F owners may have a tip or two.

grinder + cold chisel + heat and choice swear words is usual.

I've been brain storming and I think I'll drop the backbox and providing there's enough flex in the flexi bit it should just give enough room to get in with the grinder!

Oh bensewell heat and choice swear words were plentiful! Must of been using the wrong ones! Haha :)
