Mx5 vs Mgf vvc 10 years 7 months ago #129052

Had bad thoughts today......

Took a 06, reg mx5 out for a test drive :omg:

Very surprising.

They offered me £500 for my car.

On the plus side this came in as we were looking at cars.

Very very nice!!!

The ZT agree very nice.......

The £500 for your car.......insult!

The MX5...Japanese copy of great British sports cars, I believe they took some midgets apart to find what made them tick when developing the mx5 , stick with the MG :nonod:

MX5: a well executed rip off of the Lotus Élan.

Better engineered than an F or TF. More reliable. Etc
But....

No soul.

Like all Jap crap. Nasty.

IMO of course :broon:
It will be all right in the end. If it isn't all right yet, then it is not yet the end..

You should be comparing a TF VVC to an Mx5 of that age.

The TF is faster. ;)

The MX5s are pretty smart little cars. So are our MGs. De gustibus non disputandum. :yesnod:

MX5=Typical British sports car
MGF=Modern British sports car
ZT=A mess - should be subtle and not trying to be a Australian touring car.

Home to black Alfa Romeo 159 3.2 V6 Q4 ,green MGF VVC and red MG Maestro T16.

MG - the friendly marque.

Mk2 ZT's come in both and looking at the pictures I would say it is Trophy blue.Ignition is a darker colour.But with both these colours it's hard to say without the paint code the light can make a big difference.

I too would go for the TF VVC 160 as it is more economical [ you need the 2lt MX5 for the same power ] and of course the TF cab is bigger + the MX 5 has its own faults

One of the things that has surprised me most about the F is the amount of carrying space it has. I can get a week's shopping in the boot (sometimes have to put the slab of beer on the passenger seat), or a set of golf clubs and trolley.

My son's got an MR2 Roadster which a nice, fun car but has absolutely no carrying space.

Don't know what the MX5 is like but I'd be surprised if it's as roomy as the F.

The MX5 has a boot BUT we have 2 one in the front to carry beer [ and keep it cool ha] and one in the rear
