That's it exactly. It'll cost more to buy a new car than it will to fix. So yeah after you lot have talked sense into me again BIG THANKYOU!!!! I'll try and sort out the issues.

I've checked the main earths and battery earlier and all fine. I'm sure it's a dodgy connection in the instrument cluster loom. I saw one on ebay but it was £45, daylight robbery as it was second hand.

So now I'm gonna fix this and the knock at the back end which is very much my main bug bearer!
