How not to do it. .. 10 years 11 months ago #116920

...in a rush to put my Mike Satur bell crank upgrade on, I jacked the car up the way I did last time (though I didn't think it was correct to use a trolley jack on the sills) and the inevitable happened :X:

How do I fix this and how should I do this, does anyone have any pictures?

The how to guides are always worth a look before doing any work on your car.

exactly the same as mine.. it was a 2 inch split that i caused when the jack slipped... i left it not knowing what to do and by the time the mot come round it failed and he ended up cutting 8 inches out then made a plate.. it cost me £30 to get done

£30 is a lot less than I thought it would cost. Where did you get it done, a garage, repair shop etc.

I have read of others using a g clamp and a couple of pieces of wood either side, so I think I will give that a go first. Thanks for the advice.

Some careful teasing back to shape with mole grips on the flange ( oo-er) and some judicious hammer work may lessen the effect.
It will be all right in the end. If it isn't all right yet, then it is not yet the end..
