Call me a muppet but ... 11 years 5 days ago #115731

... after just over 6 months of ownership, I have just realised that you are supposed to press the clips in before you open the claps for the soft top

This got me thinking (hoping maybe), I cannot be the only person who has done something like this. I thought this could be a thread were people could share their similar experiences of items like this that may help other people. Or at least cheer a few up ;)

It takes a while to discover these things, remember it took me a while to work out about pushing on the bar to get the roof down flat when I first had mine. Lol. That's what this forum is for to ask questions and share experiences :broon: Anyways here's a little video which you prob needed to see 6 months ago...

How did you get the rood down without pressing them?

They came down pretty easily without pressing the button. Especially considering that I work in an office typing most of the time (occasionally lifting a heavy switch into a rack).

I worked with a lad once who bought a Jag XJ sport,

He pulled up one day and i went an asked him how it was going?

"its a loveley car" he said, "but it has to go back for them to have a look at it".

"why" i said.

"cos the automatic gear lever keeps sticking and it wont go into gear, you have to force ir" he said.

He showed me that he had with two hands to force the lever into position.
I simply then asked him "DO YOU HAVE YOUR FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL"?

When he pressed the brake pedal the lever released, he had been driving it like that for a month never reasling that you have to press the brake first to gointo drive!
