Is there a way of telling if a mgf is a 160? by looks alone

I use iCarCheck on the iPad and iPhone gives basic details for Free, but you can get more if you pay

yes you can,unless its a copy.
a 160 has as standard

ap front brakes.
no abs
front air dam
thophy seats
door trim and center consul matching exterior of the car.
rear spoiler.
they came in yellow,blue and black.not sure on the other colours,but only seen these colours I think they came in red.

Also Trophy 11 spoke wheels (similar but different to TF 11 spokes)
Also in Red
Also black painted headlight surrounds
Also round standard exhaust trims instead of the MGF oval type
Also Trophy 160 badge on back
...And some did have ABS :broon:

it must have been the later 160s with abs as the early ones didnt,forgot about the lights.
they never did one in silver did they.

Nope no silver trophy's

They're also 10mm lower than std mgf's and they have body coloured steering wheels :)

A 143bhp VVC will have VVC on the inlet manifold, a 160 will have a plan inlet manifold.

Home to black Alfa Romeo 159 3.2 V6 Q4 ,green MGF VVC and red MG Maestro T16.

You can always have a check of the Rev counter.

Although assuming it hasn't deliberately had a 160 one fitted, the TF160 and F Trophy red line is at 7200, whereas an TF135 is at 6750 rpm. I think the same applies to the F 118bhp, 143 and TF115 and 120bhp models too.

Please don't shoot me if I'm wrong........

I thought I may have been :bang: wrong with the F, the Non VVC is 6750 and VVC 7200 - Sorry

The quickest way is too look at the VIN number trough the passenger windscreen

SAR RD W B G B 2 D 600100

It will look live this, the 5th letter will be Z for a Trophy 160
