Ok here's the latest on my weekends modding

I have fitted both LoLarm II coolant alarm and remote boot solenoid, it should have taken a couple of hours but has ended up being done over 3 days due to the weather.

I used the same point for the live for both, its live when key turned to I and II, so as long as I don't push the boot switch while driving :(

Found a nice place for the relay just under the fuse cover

Wiring behind the drives side panel

Switch mounted, its from a SAAB (I liked the look) although cant really be seen

Wiring tidied on inside of fuse board cover

Wiring tidied for boot solenoid

The boot release cable, where the solenoid needs to pull upon. Point to note here is that although I wired as per instructions the solenoid pushed instead of pulling ! Wasn’t happy, easy to rectify though.

So this is my first attempt, all connected up using the bits supplied, it didn’t work just kinked the cable !
Good point to add here was that seeing as the Mrs had gone out I couldn’t test the solenoid as the switch was in the dash and I needed to be in the boot area !!! So I had to rig an extension of the switch

So needed to find a better way to activate the boot mechanism, so here my scarp yard challenge skills came into play. I made a cable pull that would actually fit on the mechanism and not the cable using some spare cable and a connector

Here is my improvised cable attached to the boot release mechanism, and it works great, also means no fouling of the mechanism should the solenoid fail/jamm.

Solenoid in position, again point to note here, the rather weak piece of metal bracket supplied does bend a bit when solenoid energised so I will be replacing this when I can get a stiffer bit.

I ran both cables for the LoLarm unit and the boot release together for ease

Nice and tidy

The coolant alarm was dead easy to fit the instructions were self explanatory, I will add some more pictures tomorrow

Yes I thought they might but worse case is I would have to use my key, and then just replace the cable, seemed better than something that might cause a jam and then boot wouldn't open at all

Lol, that would have worked, why didn't I think of that :-?

Mind you might have been a bit bulky considering the lack of space

Ok Ive got the last of the photos that I missed yesterday

Solenoid fitment, I wouldn't use the supplied bracket its too weak and bends each time used, I will be replacing it very soon.
