Has anyone experience using silicone brake fluid?

Expensive at £30 a litre, but should never need changing.

Many thanks

Dot 5.1?

Worth it if you plan to do track days as it has a much higher boiling point

If you do 'normal road driving' I wouldn't bother

If you do go 5.1 be sure to flush out all the old fluid (compressed air line etc) as thy should not be mixed

Take a look at this page on my website and scroll towards the bottom:

Basically, I would not recommend it in a modern car fitted with ABS. Further, the cylinder diameters need to be sized according to DOT 5.0 (DOT 5.1 is not silicone) , but the fluid tends to aerate easily in a pumped system.

It is better suited to owners of classic cars without ABS where the main benefit is the longer service life and the fluid's kindness towards paint.
