Stainless brake hoses 11 years 8 months ago #66520

Recommendations anyone for braided brake hoses?
Do you think stainless fittings more desirable than the zinc plated steel variety?
Prices on Ebay start at £39 for Aeroquip hose and rise to £100+ elsewhere for other brands.
I know MGF front hoses don't fit TF - I have an "F".

I do know Bryan Young fitted Goodridge ones (£45 for the set from MGOC) but they are normally more expensive.

Tui fitted these

Go for the stainless fittings. The zinc is usually a coating which scratches off when you fit them

No one has qualified what makes one set of stainless braided hoses better than another. I shall have to enquire of Matt Lewis Racing, what makes a £20 difference betweeen the offerings. If it's just the colour, well stuff it, I'd be happy with clear PVC over braided stainless. They would have a pseudo carbon fibre look to them - which seems all the rage (as per responses to Daz's thread about a CF finish to the dash). As for the Rastafarian finish suggested by Bongodave - it's too dark for my taste.

I've fitted Goodrich on most of my cars.

I've gone for them as they are a well known brand at a resonable price.

The front's on the F need adapting slightly as the O/E hose have a bracket and the braided don't but I've found the same on the ZR and on the ZS it's the rears.

Mate of mine was telling me the other day of a well known brand that has a habit of spitting the hose out of the coupling, I don't remember which but it wasn't Goodrich.

Mine cost £50ish from Sussex MG.

I just use our local hydraulic hose place. Cheaper and I can get what I want without waiting.
