Do we talk about this one with p/n YLE101530 ? >> Magneti Marelli

Could be Battery+, Lamp ....from my little understanding. (edit ...)

Edit: just seen, the BOSCH Alternator (p/n) YLE102430 has a DFM Signal ... Not used at our MGs though.

I'm sorry for the mistake. BOSCH is the subject ;)
OK the wire is for DFM. ( Digital Field Monitor terminal )
Not used wit our cars. At other cars it would feed to the ECU for further calculations on the alternator load.

It shows it as DFM on here

http://www.4start.eu/alternator-mg-tf-18-p-1823.html

What I would say is that it seems to be used on the MEMs3 systems, or at least it is wired in. I have read somewhere that the MEMs3 engine management will adjust idle revs to suit the load on the alternator, so maybe this is how it does it.

The spec sheet of a random regulator, but it does mention DFM.

Looking into it a bit more it works with the ECU on some cars to provide a "Soft Start" to ensure that any load is gradually applied after start up.
