Wide band Lambda sensors 13 years 6 months ago #17164

So, do you think the rough starting might be over/under fueling when cold?

I wish it was so simple to be honest, but the emerald is so good and gives you so many options ........an I'm so thick with limited options ...I think its a lack of fuel but at what stage and what temp and at how much starting enrichment, and so on an so on

I'll show you if I make the service day...be warned though its mind blowing stuff....you may need several cuppa's and loads of cake just to cover the basics

I wll be going Emerald anyway, so will be interesting to see. Have you tried asking Technozen (is that his name?) as he knows his onions.

As for coffee and cake, don't worry on that front. I will be at my quota before you get there. :)

I found the opposite with mine...

bottom end is running massively RICH... went from avg 42mpg to average 18mpg!!!
the MEMS3 on mine cant seem to handle the new mods, and falls into a "safe" mode and over-fuels really badly.

Incidently did some research and you technically dont even need a lambda sensor when running an emerald... No idea why you had to get a wide band one (unless your mapping the car yourself by hand - ie: not on a RR)
All the lotus guys run theirs on stock lambda sensors.

Have sent you the map i had, let me know how you get on with it :)

Mines running really rich on the emerald at the mo

Yeah I can see that being ok with no lambda if its been mapped as its using pre-set an checked mixtures

Its more from the point that if an when I kick in the nos
I'll be able to see when I'm over doing it on an AFR meter so reduce the chance of blowning another piston or running too lean
and using the wide band I'll be able to set another map up in adaptive more suited to running the nos as well

If that sort of makes sense...lol

it does :)

im going to have 3 maps on my Jag V8, one for fuel economy (commute to work), one for "spirited" road driving, and a final one for track days :)

I only asked about the lambda sensor as you were *****ing about needing it ;) lol! all good!

just noticed yours is a VVC... not sure how much difference that makes on the map for the emerald... my car is non-VVC.

Even if I can use the main setting and tickover to about 3,500 rpm fueling that will really help cheers

Well I bought a wideband Lambda last week on ebay, getting a bit edgey now, bought late on the 3rd an it said first class post, messaged to guy to ask if he had a tracking number, replied no as he couldn't get to post office till saturday when he would send it to get here monday, I messaged yesterday to say it still wasn't here an does he now have a tracking number, NO REPLY an its still not here today as yet

I really hope its not £200 down the pan, although paypal may cover it, but I'm not holding my breath

Errrrr sort of,I ended up going through my existing map and copying the low rev settings

At least its driveable now but fuel costs are like driving a jag...lol

A journey that normally costs me £35-£38, the other day cost me about £50 so about 25% increase...at that rate you'll be getting 3mpg

Once I get this lambda I can reduce the fuelling so the MPG should go back down an if anything be better on an eco map

Well at last it finally arrived :)

Just had a chat with dave at Emerald and its a really easy fit, plug the dial in, plug the lambda in, power cable, and the + - wibeband output to the emerald, it does all its own warming the sensor, a quick open air auto calibration an its done

so come first light I fitting it, the gauge is cool and at the push of a button can show lambda readings in three different ways, or data log button records striaght to the unit
