I ended up with only 20 mins to get the 135 ready for its MOT as though I had taken the day off I got stuck for longer than expected helping out a friend with another car.
First off was to get it started, luckily that was straight away and i poured a bit of both injector cleaner and catalytic converter cleaner in the fuel tank, followingadvice on here. The obligatory check of the coolant level and clean of the windscreen. A visual check of the tyres to make sure they'd lost too much pressure . With 5 mins to spare I realised the headlamp lenses were looking a bit jaded again but a swift rub over with some G3 compound paste on a rag was enough to make a visible improvement.
The drive accross town to my favourite test centre in >30 degree heat was uneventful despite very heavy traffic . The test went well and the tester said there was no struggle with the lambda reading this year which had been a bit of a pain the year before. Those magic bottles apparently did the trick.
One rear sidelight bulb was out, kicking myself for not making time to check that . Luckilly the tester had spares so I just had to borrow his 10mm socket to remove the protective inside cover to get to it.
Glad to have another year's pass and I really should try to use this great car more.

Well done!
No matter how much we try to keep our cars in good shape it is always a relief when the MOT certificate pops out of the printer.
Mine is due next month.

We treat our cars with kid gloves & yet they’re vindictive enough to throw up problems at the last moment either at or on the way to the MOT centre. At least the brake switch had the decency to pack up the day before, the washer pump spat a few spots out of one nozzle before it expired & the dip beams went out almost as soon as the lamp test started.
A stout thump restored the lamps, an averted gaze allowed for the washer fail & an advisory avoided.
I notice Chris used the same tester. I’ve used the same chaps for everything over the last ten years & they know the cars, at one time I was talking vehicles once a month; you build up a relationship.

Yes indeed, I always try to go to the same place. He tested my daughter's car the day before and my daily car about a month ago.
When I took on the Mk1 F I explained the MOT was just to work out a list of everything that was wrong rather than to expect a pass and he helpfully gave a much clearer description of a couple of things so I could be sure to head off in the right direction.
