When any black boxes shits themselves, it's usually a minor component such as a relay that is soldered on to the motherboard or even a bad soldered connection anything burned out will usually show scorch marks and once identified the offending resistor, transistor etc. can be easily replaced by any competent geek.
Fried chips (yum!) can be another matter.

The mention of fried chips has got me thinking of home made, hand cut sebago potatoes, deep fried in canola oil, seasoned with ground sea salt and maybe some melted garlic butter or homemade tomato sauce to dip in.... unfortunately I'm about to go to work (bloody night shift) so not now.
Pity as right now I could eat the arse outta a low flying duck!
