Jumping back into an MG with a 2000 MGF
Well I probably did the wrong thing but I spotted on FB Marketplace a lovely looking Nightfire Red MGF VVC with only 29000 miles on it. Lots of work in the last couple years with a new clutch, timing belts, service and other bits. Previous owner pampered it with a new hood, stainless coolant pipes and other bits and bobs.
Trouble is there was no MOT on it....in for a pound as they say! Turns out the inlet manifold has a leak into cylinder 1 so I whipped the head off. Head gasket was fine but the head was going porous and the waterway on the inlet has corroded. Recon head about to be ordered from Darren at MGFnTFBitz! I've started stripping the head with the view of keeping it for spares.
I had a TF about 13 years ago and then a series of MX-5s including a race car that I built up with a friend of mine. Missed having a mid-engine car and didn't want to spend Lotus prices.
Let's see how I get on....

Welcome back!
That's a nice looking car you have!!
I bet you can't wait to get it up and running again.
Good luck with the rebuild.

Well done on your choice and its so good to see you are getting stuck in straight away sorting it's faults.
Phew thats another decent MGF saved and in good hands now!
Please keep posting throughout your progress.

Spoke to Darren and Jill at MGFnTFBitz this morning to get the recon head ordered. Lovely, helpful people so can vouch for them!
