Thanks for your advice, yes we did put another 10 liters in but it made no difference, could hear the pump ticking on ignition, but it's now with the mech and I wouldn't want to try to advise him as me an amateur and he the professional.

The pump should not be ticking!!!!! you should hear it run up to pressure and stop (they dont tick like the old SU's did) David mentioned the "fuel cut off" switch ~ does seem strange that it was running well before it ran out of fuel and I assume that your service included a new fuel filter. please let us know what the problem was/is :yesnod:

The ECU could have gone into "limp home mode" which is why it would only idle and not rev and another question?? why was it so low on fuel????? two miles is about a cup full of vapour! be very interested in the results.
