Also being a biker the roads that bikers and F/TFers enjoy are pretty much the same, hence I have a pretty good knowledge of the "good" roads up here.

Oh I can suffer the weather, was just pointing out one of the roads they were on is a little cheeky in the dry never mind the wet. That coupled with some good views and a stop off along the route for waterfall sight-seeing (where, incidently a polish couple run a very nice cafe) make it one of the lesser obvious (ie hartside pass/honister pass) but very good roads of the Lakes.
