It depends where you fly, and in what. This is an ultralight so a lot less regulated than other aircraft. There is a lot of unregulated airspace where you can really do as you please. In regulated airspace then yes, you need to follow rules.

None of the ultralights I've seen here in Oz look that substantial, they all look like they've been cobbled together out of old shopping bags, maybe we have stricter rules regarding what qualifies as one here, as that actually resembles a plane!
