Nothing to be gentle about Alec! It's a nice looking car.
I changed out my radio too as it was playing up and added a couple of tweeters to the doors...the wiring is already there from the factory.
Make it yours and enjoy the ride!

Being tone deaf doesn’t stop you hearing high frequencies, it means you can’t recognise certain tones. If you can hear the whistle of a gas turbine aero engine then fit some tweeters
Anyway welcome to the “collective”, your opinion is as valued as the next member, if however it’s incorrect Cobber will eat you.
That’s a nice Mk1, the same vintage as mine & still with the original telltales, such as black windscreen surround, orange indicators & gear knob.
Lovely stuff, the only daft question is the one you didn’t ask, we are a remarkably helpful lot.
Welcome aboard.

Lovely colour.
Regarding the music, I have a TF with what is probably harder suspension than your hydragas, the CD player jumped all over so I replaced it with one of those Pioneer MVH things that play music from your phone.
Very clear output and the front is detachable and pocket sized, so scroat proof.
Works nicely with the existing speakers.

I've just replaced the radio yesterday for a new old style Bluetooth unit got some JVC speakers coming today as the old speakers are seriously perforated hopefully will keep the Mrs happy as she drives it mostly lol
