Yes I agree for caravans but not small trailers, and most MGF's (newer) and for sure ALL TF's are not suitable but Tell me I was not driving down the M^ at regular speeds safely and LEGALLY did not happen. Yes my friends it is somewhat safe as long as you are not stupid and your car is kept in first class condition as I do (GAS spheres all re-gassed/new shocks ALL round/New brakes ALL round ETC. I have was a design engineer on parts off concord, I do not take these things lightly as no one should, but I need to take rubbish to the tip! Only reason MG did not fit a tow bar as standard was because of EU red tape about to come in and blow BRITISH cars out of the water, like BMW what a joke they were. I say again pre 1-8-98 MGf's are capable of towing on grounds of power and weight the key factors when towing. Not many early MGF's still around anyway now after being scraped for bits mainly. So be serious like Watling Engineering who still supply custom made tow bars for pre 1-8-98 MGF's ONLY But do not break the law with newer modles as it may invalidate you car insurance. Most if not all such cars like Metro's 1100's with basically the same suspension had no problems towing, my dad towed a lare trailer in the 60's with no problems. WORD OF WARNING DO NOT BREAK THE EU/UK LAWS WITH TOW BARS & BE VERY REASPONSIBLE LIKE I AM. THANK YOU I HOPE THIS DISPELS MYTHS LIKE THE MGF IS NOT SAFE TO TOW WITH I DO LEGALLY.  More ...
