I also build engines for a living.well the company I work for does.
My main role is timing belts and chains and headgaskets on cars that come in.
The other part the other staff carry out are the machining and complete engine overhauls on engines that arrive with out a car.We as a company never remove the power plant.

Answered this around 5 years ago but...

When I worked at a haulage company I used to have to ring drivers up to sort out fitting/servicing their truck tyres.

The main director was also called andy and sounded a little like me so when I phoned up a driver they would ask if it was andy larkin, the director so I had to reply "no, it's andy the tyre man"

Hence forth everyone called me Andy the tyre man.

Anyhoo......

It's Andy Larkins funeral today. Only 54, taken by motor neurone disease. :(

Mine is a nickname I was given many years ago by one of my drinking mates. It is because I was for most of my working life in the Merchant Navy, and in command for some of those years. If anyone feels that the capital letters are a bit pretentious that is simpl ybecause I had caps lock on at the time of joining. Any of you who also use the MGOC forums will know me as Chris Hughes.

Cobber is an Aussie term for mate, friend etc, it was also the name of a dog I had who was a bit of a legend.

His mum was a German Shepherd X Bull Terrier and dad was a Border Collie.....he was built like a brick shithouse.....Fearless, loyal, big, strong smart, tough, handsome, athletic, and a bloody lunatic!

Very nice looking motor. Always something about a well-turned out Mini.

Now you've spelt it out, your username makes sense to my tired old mind: I was wondering what a Swork was and who would scoop one.....😬
It will be all right in the end. If it isn't all right yet, then it is not yet the end..
