Not sure if you've gone back to basics before shelling out dosh ..... but I would suggest you check the starter motor there's the main lead leave that ,, then a smaller lead on a spade connection take that lead off clean the connector you can reach in with boot engine access grill removed and feel wire so even a rub with finger can clean connector it enough .. Refit wire and car should start the lead may even of fallen off spade connector if it has refit it.

Your :welcome: glad to be of help .

I've only worked on these cars for a short time I'm at the end of a mgf moderate rebuild project , and underneath the shell I'm learning quickly the mgf seems to be a metro with an engine in the back and all metros had same fault on starter motors it's common on the type fitted . Shame about battery .......

I have a MGTF 04 plate 135 with the oval key fob. A couple of weeks ago I drove 300 miles from Norwich-Blackpool with no problems. The car was left on my drive for 2 weeks due to ordering a new rear window etc...

My key fob won't work. Every time I try to start my car it beeps like crazy. I've tried fitting a new battery, charging the battery, jump starting etc... But, it seems like there is an immobiliser problem???

I've been quoted £160-£180 by a local MG specialist who believes its the key fob? He says £80 for key fob plus labour which is steep in my humble opinion.

It's due an MOT in just over one week, I just don't know what to do. I don't want to throw loads of money as I'm in the process of selling it for another car.

Could this fix my problem? Do it myself?...

I've tried the EKA code with no results, and I only have the one key fob. Silly of me really to buy a car with one key fob I know! ;)

It could be an answer. There is also www.MGRovercodes.com that will probably be able to help you with this.

Thanks David.

I've been in contact with a specialist who says he can fix for £70. I've removed my SCU unit from below the Stereo (foot-well area) He says
he will programme me a new key etc... All I need to do is send my SCU to him.

A specialist MG Garage near me wanted £160-£180 to do this!

Cheers,
Rick
