Hello everyone. This may seem like a strange problem but flaming cats sitting on our mg are driving us nuts. We bought an expensive cover for our mgf and after just weeks of use cats have already made a hole in it and scratched it like mad. I am looking for something I could spray on the cover to deter cats? I've tried rubbing pepper into the fabric but of course rain will wash this off. Not sure if those cat repel sprays work or not so asking if anyone else has this problem and managed to solve it. ? Thank you.

I find giving them a good spray with one of these works very well!
Think of it as a cat converter.......it converts cats to strawberry jam. :bust:
And every car has to have a cat converter :bust: ;)

I used to leave the previous MG I had under a car porch and for some unknown reason cats for miles must of booked space on my cars roof, I got really    when they started plucking the fabric with their claws, I never tried the two suggestions above but to be honest I wish I had because I tried everything else like cat repellent, pepper, and even bought a cat alarm thing the theory was when it detected movement it made a sound that was supposed to of scared cats but humans couldn't hear.....well it didn't scare the B****y things in our neighbourhood. What I did in the end and it was the only thing that seemed to work was I bought a piece of three-ply wood about the same size as the roof, attached strips of carpet grip to it and whilst it was an absolute pain used to stick the piece of wood on the roof when it was parked up under the car port....don't think they liked lying on the spikes, as I say a pain but it worked.......in the end moved house and now its garaged :woohoo: :woohoo:

Far be it from me to suggest, that you do anything nasty to them so.......Whatever you do, don't leave a saucer of milk laced with aspirin out for them, cos aspirin is toxic to cats! ????

My two cats both prefer the MG to other cars, due to it being softer, and the black fabric heating up nicely in the sun. They've never tried to make holes in it, but they do leave cat hair on it and I think might stretch the fabric in their favorite spot if allowed to lie there all summer.
Like Rob I've found a sheet of wood on the roof makes it unattractive to them. I use a sheet of painted hardboard with two holes drilled each side threaded with a loop of bunjee cord which I tuck behind the door handles to keep it from blowing off

Sitting on the roof is one thing...one of the little feral blighters in our barn actually gave birth on mine! In fact the hood was down and the sag in the indoor cover must have made a nice depression for her. Bit messy, but a quick trip through the washing machine (before telling the other half what caused the stain) and the cover is almost back to normal...

What's that black canvas thing behind the seats for?
