TPS would be the Throttle Position Sensor.

don't worry about asking questions like that, if you never ask you never learn :)

Sometimes its not needed if all runs as it should ,on the other hand sometimes it needs to be done a few times.

The TPS is a module that is capable of learning what position the throttle is in that way it knows when its open /closed and the degrees in between for fulling and ignition timings .

But to be honest its worth doing as a matter of course IMHO

Thats what I thought its self adjusting.. I guess i you fit it and it runs a tad rough then resetting it will sort it out straight away but if all is well it ill soon settle to the optimum position after a few runs

Just done some detective work in the Welcome threads, Tibs, don't you have a silver MGF VVC? I thought those were already 52mm so you may already have what your looking for

Only the 160 VVC has a 52mm throttle, the 143 VVC has a 48mm throttle body.

TPS reset is good practice after any servicing or engine work.

No idea I haven't found the engine yet, been raining too much to look since I got it :bust:

Is there an easy way of telling, is the 52mm and internal or external size ?

I knew the TF's had the bigger TB and read that some F VVC's had this too, though it's good to have some clarification.

Thank you for that :)
