jac114 wrote: Well The TF Arrived this afternoon at work and i managed to get both cars back home .. unfortunately the test drive i gave it wasnt a very long one but it was enough for me to tell everything was o.k anyway after driving it for longer I have surprisingly come to a conclusion... I prefer my mk1 MGF so i think its going to be a short ownership of the TF it looks nice but there is just something about my F that feels more like a proper little rough and ready sports car..
tell us more about this mate

That was the very reason I was looking for another F and not a TF.

might have to drive a few more miles in it to really make my mind up.. maybe its the thought of keeping the TF and having to sell the mk1 that I have put so much work into

Sort the tyres out first and then look at the bushes/wheel alignment etc.
I have never heard the TF described as not enough of a sports car compared to the F, usually the opposite as the TF tends to be a bit more "Go kart" with harder suspension and better steering.
A lot of people test drive a poorly maintained/set up TF and complain that TFs handle badly. This tends to perpetuate a lot of myths.
A correctly set up TF, while maybe not to everybodies taste, should be a rewarding drive.

The TF does bounce a bit more on uneven ground compared to the F , i have 3 different tyres and never heard of any of them but shes planted into the road, loads of confidence in the grip.
Engine pulls better for longer than the f and top speed is lets say a lot more than either of my f's i've owned.
Maybe you need to do as CJJ says there might be a few little bits that need doing and you'll love it .
IF you can let go of your first F love
Good luck mate

my Brakes i'd say are about 3% better ,, you might have a warped disc or something ?
I've had the same issue with several handbrakes and to rectify this :
remove wheels
remove brakes
check both if all ok proceed
push calipers back home
refit calipers
Do not operate the handbrake
Pump foot brake untill hard hold and start engine.
release foot brake then operate the handbrake
hope this helps a bit

I got to drive my friends 2003 TF (135 I believe) this summer and found it to be very similar to my F in terms of ride and overall performance. I did find the ride a bit stiffer than mine, which wasn't surprising, but far from objectionable. I certainly wouldn't object to having a TF in my garage.
