Going to POR15 the subframes inside and out... Prime in 2k... Then top coat in 2k solid.. Then waxoil insides

Should see em good for a few years

Done nearly 70 hours in the last 6 days at work..

So only done about 4 hours work today..

Steering arms drilled out on pillar drill to accept bolts for rose joints..

Finished the body shell/shock tower stiffening bars too.. had to move the fuse box also

My Guru has been looking at drawings of the MGF body shell and looking at ways to make it torsionally stiffer..

So today I went and purchased a bi metal hole saw..

2x more bars to go from the cross brace that is welded to the strut towers.. the 2x new bars will go through the bulk head and meet the large cross member that runs under the dash

All that remains then is make up a removable brace that bolts across where the spare wheel is..

Brace in for track days.. no spare wheel..

Brace out and spare wheel in for normal drividng on the road..

The back end has already been stiffend up..

The only way the shell could be any stiffer now is fitting a roll cage which would add strength across the roof area.. Not going for the cage as I want the car to look factory with the roof down..

Im sure someone will pipe up now about crumple zones etc..

My guru is a clever bloke and never takes chances with safety.. I trust his input and know he would never do anything to endanger myself or any passenger

You need to add a Magic Tree to your interior spec mate. :yesnod:

I've just ordered the new +80bhp magic tree

I'm guessing over a period of weeks as the smell fades so does the extra bhp

Might buy 2x brand new ones for track days

Wouldn't the bhp be wasted every time you put the roof down?

Darn it.. didnt think of that..

Could be reduced when the fans on inside the car too..

Might buy some of that 'snake oil' that imporves the BHP or ne of those turbines that goes on the inlet to the ITBs

Putting Rose track rod ends on a road car is not advisable as they pick up grit from the road and it will knacker them, on a track car it is getting cleaned so its ok , or if you must have them on a road car run a boot over it ..
