My 1998 MGF needs a new Water Pump and Cam Belt, but its difficult to find a mechanic. On line I have received a quote for £684 which is excessive. Can anyone recommend a mechanic and how much is it likely to be.

This guy gets good reviews, based in Derbyshire, but is mobile, so expect to pay travel costs, he is quoting £250 for non VVC and £270 for VVC

I dont know why you dont do it yourself like most of us here have. Theres guidance plus plenty of people here you could borrow the cam and crank locking tools from, you wont need any other specialist tools. just a modicum of time and effort for a few hours
