Ever since I got my TF a few months ago I've been chomping at the bit to find some accessories or bits I can design and 3D print.
Well while looking through eBay I saw there are a few machined seat belt guides, as it's very much non-structural, I thought 'hay I can save myself a few quid here', not to dimiss the great work of the people who designed and machined the metal parts as the look, finish and feel is very different to 3D printing. Anyway, I spent a short while mocking something up in CAD and fired it off to the printer! Results are attached.
The part I really like to this is that in theory you can tweak these to the colour of your seat, your car or whatever you wanted. The example below is just a pinkish colour that I use for concepts. Currently no grub screw is needed as I made the tolerence tight enough that with a small amount of force it slides over the headrest post and is pretty secure there.
Next steps will be to refine the overall shape and soften it off a bit & see if I can build in some cool bespoke tweaks (names, car name, inlay for emblems etc).If people are interested, once I'm happy with the design I'll make it available to download then print off a batch and bring some to any MG shows I visit over the summer & give out for free.

Firstly this 3D printing is other worldly to me! It's alchemy and trickery!
They look very simple, very neat and with a little rounding off as you plan to do they will look really good and do the job they were intended for.
Colour coding would be amazing!
Me and IT are like chalk and cheese!
Posting on a forum is a headscratcher...

The first time I printed something I designed it was a bit of a mind blown situation. Being able to resolve your own problem or idea is really fun.
Its not an outrageously costly hobby, printers are not silly money and the material is cheap. There are lots of work that people post that you can just print.
The hard bit is 100% designing with the measuring calculations and how to design a shape you're imagining. Thankfully my job requires me to do stuff like this so it's been a few year journey of self teaching.
I'll make sure I update the thread with new revisions to see what people prefer.

That's pretty cool. A bit long to print in one, so would need to attach bits together. But a cup holder there would certainly work.
Do you know how it attaches? Is there any native mounting or is some modification needed?

It mounts with screws into the door panel. Both screws can be seen in the picture VinceR attached.

One of our guys down here in Melbourne printed a Door Handle and it worked okay. Needed a bit of hand finishing. The CAD/STL file was available on the internet for around $A14.

3d print files, huge new topic, does anyone have any thoughts about where to save all these bright new ideas, I've seen a few bits saved on www.thingiverse.com for MGF and MGTF in sperate tabs.
Would you mind sharing that file with me please, These will print nicely for me in black.

As Mowog states 2 screw attachment visible but I suspect it would need a couple of extra attachment underneath as well. Someone is bound to use it as a door closer! Get rid of the big MG logo whilst you are at it? This is all magic to me!
The image is from Jakabi Design (https://www.facebook.com/people/Jakabi-design/100057262997999/) You can see the pockets if you scroll down a bit. They appear to be fibreglass mouldings.

Wow, some cool work going on there.
Sadly I don;t have an FB account anymore so I can only scroll so far down before I'm told I need an account. Will see if I can get my partner to open it for me.
