Hi Guys, can anyone please tell me if an electronic boot release kits from a Mazda MX5 will fit on an MGF (assume some modifications necessary). If so, do I use the part for side or top lights?
Hope this is clear enough and thanks in advance for any help.

Cheers

Welcome. There has been a lot of discussion on electric boot releases and several of us here have made them so your first port of call would be to use the Search feature to find the information on those threads.

I couldnt advise about repurposing an MX5 book lock-though strangely enough I do happen to have one from a NBFL in a box here somewhere for a completely different reason.

A cheap generic central locking solenoid linked to the boot lock gives enough pull for the job. They are usually sold with a length of rod which can be used to make up the linkage and the solenoid can be bolted to the metalwork of the inside of the bootlid with nuts and bolts of f
self tappers. I put a push button for mine in the cubby at the rear of the console. Not really hidden but you'd have to know its there. Others have dash mounted them and some have wired them so they can only work when the ignition is on..
