Cool Wall - Lotus Elan Sprint 12 years 1 month ago #43282

The Lotus Elan Sprint. The last of the Elans until it was relaunched in the late 80's
A 1.6 Ford/Lotus twin cam engine combined with a typically light Lotus body and superb handling would still put many of today's sports cars to shame.
In my opinion the Elan is the best looking Lotus ever built ... especially with Emma Peel behind the wheel.
Now as rare as Rocking Horse do do on the open car market so not cheap.

But what do you think - Cool?

One of these was on the A34 last summer near Elderley Edge, it looked tiny on the road surrounded by modern cars.

A couple of months ago I saw this Lotus Esprit Turbo S4. It looked fairly tidy and sounded healthy enough but only fetched just over £6000

Think I would have the Esprit over the Elan if push came to shove :-?

The Elan is a nice little car. A friend has his Elan written off driving out of his underground parking garage on the way to out Vancouver-Whistler Run a couple of years ago. A woman wasn't paying attention and just pulverised the poor little thing. He made the run, but as a passenger in another car.
I have to admit I like the Esprit as well :broon: but the Europa is just too small for me. At the same event I had a Europa park next to my TR7 and couldn't get over how low it was. The TR is pretty darn low but no comparison to the Lotus-No Compromise there!
