Cool Wall - Toyota MR2 MK1
The MR2, Mid-engine, Rear wheel drive, 2-seater, first appeared 10 years before MGF. Some may consider this car to be a classic.....
But is it a cool car?
If you missed the previous Cool Wall threads have your say. To see all the Cool Wall cars click on this link
All the cars are now in the new Cool Wall section in the T-Bar

Understand it's significance but IMHO the looks really dated in a very uncool way

Chavtastic mates!
My friend has a black one of these that he used daily for the past umpteen years. Super cool in its hay day and like our cars, still has much fun to offer.

Back in 1986, yes 1986 - this was a sub zero car without a shadow of a doubt. Unfortunately times have changed and unlike the MGF the MR2 really does show it's age. I wanted one of these so much in 1986 but would I contemplate buying one today - no. MR2 it was nice knowing you.

Be fair what about the later Mk2 models - especially the T Bar!!!!!! IMHO one of the very few "pretty" cars and one I would still love to have
I may be old but I’m not senile:-
It’s just that I can’t remember whether it’s Alzheimer’s or Amnesia

I am of the same opinion that in '86 it was super cool, but not so sure now. those wheels look like they belong on a pram or go kart, not a car, they look tiny, not all tiny wheels look that dated, 10" minilite for example or any Mini wheels.
However, I think it is a bit unfair to call it Uncool. Maybe a middle option of "Not Cool", just because it is not cool, doesn't mean it is UNcool.
:hugs:

Come on now Gary, you'll get splinters sitting on the fence.
A car can be cool for ever or have a limited life in the cool zone. The original MR2 was sub zero at launch but is now very dated. The new third generation MR2 does nothing for at all and I would not even consider buying one for a minute.
Around at the same time and with a waiting list of well over a year at launch was ....
The CRX is another one which was cool, has aged a lot better but is still not cool now.

This generation and the last one where it went on a diet are cool.
