Unfortunately it’s a sign of the times, I’m a member of a motor club, for rally marshalling etc, also a classic motorcycle club which runs motorcycle trials, & a long term supporter of the MGFregister, all are now Facebook orientated & I’ve been on Facebook for many years, I’m in my 70s so I’m no tech wizard but I find it ok, just follow the pages of the clubs/people that interest you & don't accept friend requests, if you want to make it simple.
From a motor club perspective Facebook will if we’re not careful by the death of motor clubs, who organise things under MSUK, but Mr or Mrs Boy/Girl Racer can go on Facebook & organise a run for 50 cars with no problem, but woe betide if anything goes wrong!! I also run the MGFRegister Lancashire & Cumbria Facebook page, which is admittedly fairly quiet.
I’d suggest you give it a try, you’ll soon settle in😀😀
