Tombstones 12 years 3 months ago #36637

I popped to visit my dad's grave today, while I was reading the inscription (Gone from our home but not from our hearts) I had a thought (yes it happens some times) what would I like to see on my tombstone and what would I not like to see.

Soooo here are 3 of each.

I would like to see
Born March 5th 1963, died in top notch health while running his 3rd marathon in 2 days (having won the first two) July 27th 2124

Won £10 Million, spent it all

Thank you, The Saturdays ;)

Would not like to see
Missed by many but not the bloke driving the bus!

Fell into a giant blender, rest in pieces

Came into the world with nothing and managed to hold on to some of it.

Ones I'd like:

Lived fast but didn't die young - lucky sod!
Never seen in anything with 2 seats from Japan.

Wouldn't want any of the usual sentimental stuff.

But it's hard to beat Spike Milligan's "I told you I was ill"

I think tombstones are bit last century, I have left a .txt file with all my wishes in it so events will be organised as I want and i can still annoy other people, after I'm gone ;)
Included in this I have requested no one attend at the crem, and I want to go in the little black van they use to collect you not the hearse, and can it make reasonable progress having due regard to the weather and traffic conditions, while complying with any speed limits. Since I wont be driving I wanted to make that clear. I'm not the worlds most organised time keeper so I've also asked for it to arrive late.
On epitaphs I have always liked Keats' "Here lies one whose name was writ in water" very self deprecting English.
