Door Check Strap 9 years 5 months ago #152677

Hi, does anyone know of a fix for a broken door check strap mounting on my 2005 TF. The bracket that secures the strap inside the door pillar has broken free and I can't see an easy option to refix it. Any ideas ?

I suspect the bracket is welded in place. Is it possible to rivet or bolt it in place?

Tap out the locating dowel that attaches it to door post.
Remove door card make sure your glass window is in the up position.
Two bolts visible on the external side of restrictor 10mm hold the restrictor in place undo them and you can remove the restrictor from inside the door, hence remove door card.If it cant be fixed replace it.

Good advice except it's the car end that has failed.

Thank you for the responses. I have added a photograph which shows the bracket inside the door pillar protruding through the hole in the pillar. It is the offside check strap and I cannot see anywhere where I can get access to get it re-fitted !
