Needed - Nylon retainer for gear lever mechanism 6 years 2 months ago #183192

I have tried my usual sources but they were unable to assist so I am hoping spomeone out there can help.

I have an MG TF 03' Plate and the gear cable adjuster at the bottom of the gear shift recently broke.I managed to source a replacement (without the need for a whole cable courtesy of (mgandamcparts.com).

Once completed I wasn't able to change into 1, 2, 5 & reverse and notice the retainer (Nylon?) was sliding in and out of the square Nylon housing which slots into the shift mechanism.

I cannot find this item anywhere and it has rendered my car inoperable.

Can anyone offer my any advice on where to source this from new? Or a scrap part of an old mechanism laying around?

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Only going from memory, but that doesn't look right at all. Are you sure you've put it back together correctly?
I may be able to get a photo of my gear lever assembly tomorrow to compare.

Hi there -I also think you have made an error with the mounting-have enclosed a picture of a working unit before fitment
