(For non French speakers)
I discovered the MG community in the Netherlands by buying a hardtop a few days ago. Still looking for information to work on my 1999 MGF, this one pointed me to your forum which I am happy to participate in now. Thanks Constantine.
Well, I'm not going to translate my comments via Google because, as a transalpine philosopher said, "translating is betraying"...in fact, in good French, I only speak French, unfortunately.
I am finishing the renovation of my MGF VVC. I took the engine out this winter to carry out a relatively complete renovation: Oil sump, reinforced cylinder head gasket, rectification of the cylinder head, renovation of the valve tappets, change of the intake valves, the oil pump, the water pump and timing and service belts, seals... Obviously the VVC mechanism became uncoupled during handling of it. For the rebuild I found good information on Youtube with Double Duck Garage.
There is a lot of detailed information on your forum so my contribution will be limited to posting a photo of a small homemade tool (formatted soldering rod) in order to more easily replace half-moons on the valve stems .
Have a good trip everyone,
