Formula E - Worth Watching? 9 years 7 months ago #149856

With Formula E starting this weekend and televised on ITV 4. Do you think it will be worth watching or just another Formula Classic they tried a few years ago?
Regards

Chris

I enjoyed Sunday's F1 race more than any other for quite a while. Lots of decent overtaking. Ok dominated by the Merc engined cars but pretty exciting nevertheless

Like it not i think this is the way to go, Petrol won't be around forever and i think we are better are off embracing the technology now. The more R & D that goes into electric now can only be a good thing in my opinion.

Just for those wondering how it will work:

"The inaugural season will see 10 teams, each with two drivers, competing in the 2014/2015 FIA Formula E Championship.
For season one, each team will run four Spark-Renault SRT_01E Formula E cars, two per driver, with the cars/teams based at a purpose built central workshop at Donington Park during the off-season.
From season two, Formula E will become an 'open championship' allowing teams to design and develop their own cars - in accordance to the technical specifications set out by the FIA - and showcasing their electrical energy innovations in a competitive, racing environment."

Have got it set up to record on Sat a.m.

Quite a lot of ex F1 drivers in there: Algusarie (sp?), Senna, Trullu, Chandhok etc, also a couple of lady racers.

The drivers swap cars during a compulsory pit stop due to battery life.

Freer form season 2 should get interesting: so long as it doesn't open a huge performance gap as in F1 between the teams.

Old family rivalry: Bruno Senna and Nico Prost. :broon:

The London race at the end of the season may be worth a visit.

We visit Donington a lot as it's just down the road from us: the new E facilities are impressive, and it's brought some much needed investment in paddock facilities.

We bumped into Karun Chandhok at the circuit recently: wot a really nice bloke: chatted for ages about F1 and Formula E.
It will be all right in the end. If it isn't all right yet, then it is not yet the end..

really enjoyed the race!

What a finish :hgf:

Will definitely watch the season; as all are in the same car the driver's skills have much more influence.

Like it! :woohoo:
as ever,
Rob
