Had a strap fitted to meg for years. It attached under the hood clip and just rests behind the seat when the hood is down. Grab it and pull and the hood goes up.. Simples. Then roll up and it sits above the hood clip.

Would this work with the MG windbreak fitted? Was thinking about a strap but figured it would be difficult to get leverage to pull it up with the windbreak in place.

While driving I can drop the roof but never done it over 20mph in case it's pulled out of my hand with wind pressure (with the glass wind break up) but never managed to lift it back up without stopping.

Judy as the passenger can lift the roof while I am driving (wind break up) and keeping her seat belt on, but because I am a gentleman I always slow down for her a tad!

The panther as a electric roof but it doesn't work.The previous owner claimed it needed two wires connecting which in short means nobody probably been able or bothered to locate the fault.
Out of curiosity I will strip the interior and trace the fault but prefer the simplicity of just folding it up and down manually.

Very late to revive this thread but did you ever find the fault as thre one i am fitting seems dead too now it's fitted!
