We got an MOT !!!!
Well chuffed.

Fully legal and ready to rock. It's beautiful sunshine in Morecambe (As it always is) so I've been blasting around with the roof down. Even convinced the wife to come for a drive. Needless to say after a 70mph blast her hair was some what dishevelled. It's was very funny.
funny.now to start planning the next MG jobs

Nice one, I'll get that wadding off shortly in that case. Anything to try and combat the rot.

Regarding the exhaust, it's a self evolving one. Started life as a standard exhaust then time and rot have morphed it to a one tail piece type. It's definitely in need of replacing but that's a job for another day.

Same with the discs, that'll be the next job on the list, but I'm taking baby steps. Plus I only have a few days before the free MOT retest.

So the "well taken care off car" was finally ready for the first MOT in my owner ship. I'm starting to realise that just because people say they look after their cars, they don't actually take any care.

obviously she failed the MOT but only on tie bar bushes and one track rod end. Happy days.

Tje mechanic, who I know well, said "it's not a hard job, why don't you give it a go yourself" he's clearly a bastard!

Got my parts and jacked up the car with lots of enthusiasm and motivation. That was at 9am. By 12 noon i was on the phone to MGFNFTBITZ ordered new tie rods so I could cut these ones off.

New rods ordered. 50% of the job done so far. Fingers crossed for tomorrows task.

this old girl is way more rotten than I was led to believe

HONK HONK!!!
We have a horn.
The red box behind the dash sorted my alarm and the squib ring / horn coupler sorted the horn on the steering wheel.
thank you all for your guidance on this. I'd have never in a million years found these fixed
Very happy.
MOT on Thursday 🤞

Update
firstly, Notanumber thank you for the offer but id already ordered one from MGFNMGTFBITZ.

it arrived and I've fitted it. In the process I've found i can bend like a contortionist, ouch!

When i plug in the horns and blip the alarm it doesn't go off any more result!

..... however still no horn off the steering wheel button still. Ive checked the coupler and i don't think I'm getting continuity through it. So I'll order one.

in the process I've snapped off a tab from the tiny horn button mounted in the steering wheel which is a swine.

This little car is really testing me!!
I'm starting to think this car has had a life of issues as many bolt heads and screw heads are mashed up. Dodgy twisted wires etc. It's only been owned by my god parents who would not of touched a spanner, it makes me think a rough garage has done this.

Hi Airportable, is it's the part numbered 67 on this drawing that you are referring to?

Next is to get the horn working so I can book the MOT. I'm doing lots of research as it appears there are a number of causes for the horn to not work.
I also have ugly sealant around the rear lights which I need to remove.

Many thanks for the link. I'll pop the wheel off and have a look.
The coupler wouldn't explain why the alarm sounds as soon as I lock the car. I assumed the horn not working and the alarm sounding where linked ?

It sounds like a job for a professional. I may rig up a red neck horn to get it through the MOT as the local auto electrician is busy till October.

Thank you thank you.
I was going nuts not being able to find out.
I've obviously put the wrong one in the wrong hole (oi oi 😜). So I'll swap this over this evening.
thank you again
