Key Fob 1 month 1 week ago #206195

Replaced circular three button fob case (as existing badly worn) and battery this morning on 2005 TF. No go.
Thankfully other fob still works.
Tried unlocking with key and pressing (one? or both? in turn? padlock buttons 4 to 8 times. No success.
Any ideas? (Cannot get Leigh Ping's video to activate).
Tks

Are you sure battery polarity is placed on correct way?
Second are you sure battery has enough power - it would not be the first time new battery is duff?

Since you say it is new case, are you sure that pcb connector really touch the battery and that you have good battery contact in the new case?

You did not need to press any buttons since Pektron fob does not need re-sync. It should work right away if everything is fine.

Maybe you could ask Paul @ https://www.technozen-electronics.co.uk/ what he thinks of such situation.

Hanging my head in shame.
OMG!!
What a useless, foolish so and so I have been over this......
So, I contacted Paul at Technozen and received a reply that had this added on at the very end of his message....

"....Was the small metal contact beside the battery moved across to the new case?"
Mmmmm.

Lesson for the future I suppose is when another stupid person asks a similar question the responses, as well as: is the battery OK? is it the right way round? is the case secured correctly? should include "did you do the fundamentally obvious thing and move across the small metal contact to the new case? !!!

The technical term for your problem was a high impedance air gap!

I’ve told you before about this Cobb’s, it can’t be impedance, impedance is an alternating current function, this is DC we’re discussing & thus it had to be a high resistance. Or more correctly we’re dealing an air / spark gap, although at 3volts the spark won’t jump very far.
Good to see you’re getting back on form.
Take care.
