Now that’s interesting. As my f is No1 car it got the new hood on a tf frame & the f hood & frame went on the tf & I can’t get a correct fit around the front corners, particularly the passenger side. If this is the case I’ll stop worrying about it & put up with the little puddle after heavy rain. Thank you, one less job to do.

.....The frames are different, so when fitting a "new" MGTF hood to an F, I guess you should really also replace the frame for a TF frame!

Some companies do list hoods separately for MGF or MGTF, but most do not!

Either hood/frame will fit both F and TF, but TF Hood/Frame is superior to an F one.

Correct me if I am wrong but I don't believe it is a change between the F and the TF as the hood design changed in 1997, less than half way through the run of the mk1 F, let alone the mk2 F.

Rimmers suggest the change was at VIN WD024604

With my pedantic head on...:P

To clarify, and to avoid confusion - they are mk1 and mk2 hoods, not F And TF hoods :nonod:

The mk2 hood was fitted to later Fs before they even released the TF.:yesnod:

In a simiar vein, the interior upgrade was to the mk2 F. Again before the release of the TF.

Hi

And to be really pedantic. The 1.6 cars created alongside the mk2 1.8 have mk1 interior bits! For example the interior door escutchons (the bit around the handle) are rectangular on a mk1 and the 1.6 but oval on mk2s. I have never checked the window switches. Mk2 and mk1 are different in the switch front and the wiring.

Of course you could take a 1.8 mk2 door card and put it on a mk2 1.6 car. So if you are looking for an mgf make sure you check the vin and V5. 1.6 have less kit and should be cheaper. Not the any of them are a lot of money.

Yep. Correct Ash. Just to add to the general confusion, ;) MGR got rid of their stocks of mk1 interiors by fitting them to the 1.6!
Plus other things like black door mirrors and non central locking door locks...

Ok. The later hood was fitted to later early Fs; also to early later Fs; also to later later Fs. Oh and TFs.:yesnod:

The earlier hood was fitted to early early Fs.:yesnod: Simples! :bust:

I'm sure that clears it up for you!:broon:

Mk1 early ran from 95 to 99, late hood was fitted from 97 on, so late early.....
