TF Front crash bar 7 years 5 months ago #173179

Hi guys
A quick question but perhaps not that easy.
I plan on buying a front bumper support from an MGF for my TF.
The collapsible part from one side was damaged due to a small bump.
I know that the TF bar has a couple of extra fittings rivetted on but that's not a problem.
My main concern is if the collapsible parts are of the same size and match.
First and last pictures show the TF crash bar from different angles and the 2nd and 3rd pics show the F crash bar from different angles
Just wanted to be sure before I get it shipped over

thanks

Hmm. I don't know for sure, but they are probably the same fitment to the body.
Why not get a TF one?

You will need the extra fittings if you are using a TF bumper.

It's quite difficult to find any seller selling something big and heavy that is willing to ship to Malta.
Many sellers don't offer international shipping and others charge an arm and a leg.
I found this crash bar for a very reasonable price and and even more reasonable shipping cost. It was readily available and I didn't even need to ask the seller for the shipping cost. It was there from the start. All I had to to is click the buy it now button.

Regarding the extra fittings, that should not be a problem. I can easily take them off my old one. I could also use my old crash bar and take the left collapsible mount from the new one. Just wanted to know if the collapsible mounts were the same.
I suppose I'll just have to take the risk. B)

Thanks for your help guys

I have a crash bar that is missing the essential mounts for a tf (see one of my previous posts) I can measure the crush parts and advise you. Dont know if this is an f or tf bar but suspect that it's a bodged tf.
If the measurements are the same as your f bar then I can drill out the pop rivets and send it to Malta, you pay postage. I'm only going to scrap the bar.

Hi Ian,

thanks for your help.
I've bought one now and it's in the post. Will let you and everyone else know how I get on. If it's different I can measure mine and let you know.
Removing the crush parts and sending them separately would definitely be cheaper.
Will let you know soon.
thanks again

Hi everyone,

just wanted to let you know that the MGF crash bar matched perfectly on my TF.
I only need to remove the two fittings from my original TF one and fit them on my F one.
thanks for the help guys.

Ian,
If you're still interested in removing the crumple part from the front crash bar and sending it to me I am still interested if the postage doesn't cost an arm and a leg.
I paid 13 pounds for postage for the entire crash bar so I doubt the collapsible part alone should cost too much.
I need the left one btw
thanks
