Paint Work - North East
Anyone local to the North east of England, know a good/cheap painter or a painter themselves?
Needing some rusty paint work sorted on my MGF, no cutting or welding etc just a paint really but its lots of little spots.
Been quoted some ridiculous prices.
If anyone knows of any, please let me know :yesnod:.

sam47 wrote: Hi , not sure what you class as rediculous prices . I have a price for a full respray £1600. Painting Place, Bebside Blyth. I have seen his work and does mostly classic cars. Bumper, bonnet and wings I was quoted £450 a few years back. Works on his own and is always busy.
I got quoted £1500 for a small spot on the arch, both air vents on the side of the car and a couple of small spots on the bonnet/boot... I may be wrong but I think that's over priced....
What's the name of the garage you are using in Blyth?..

There is no point in painting over rust, as it just seals the rust it to happily continue to eat the steel away.
So the reason why the quotes might be on the steep side, could be down to the amount of preparation work required before the actual painting is done.
The most important part of any paint job is the preparation.
Remember you can't polish a turd, but you can roll it in glitter!
And painting over rust pretty well equates with rolling a turd in glitter! :bust:

I obviously didn't mean painting straight over the rust.
