A problem to solve!! 10 years 9 months ago #123839

Hi all.....

I went for a "spirited" drive to halfrauds in Chester last night in the 'F,

On the way I was giving it the beans with the roof down of course when my problem started :nonod:

The rear cubby lid kept on blowing forwards

Anyone had this happen and how was it sorted??

mmmmmm slow down????

check to make sure the catches are present and correct on the lid, only time mines ever come down was when the catch was broke

Catch seems ok....

Maybe I was going a bit too fast.

Double check that there are two separate parts to the catch...sometimes one half gets stuck in the other and tho it looks ok at first glance, it will cause the cubby lid to fall.
Otherwise, if catches are ok and cubby not too full, try adjusting the screws a little...there is plenty of room for adjustment. Take the lower section 'storage bin' out to expose the screws

Keep us informed!

Solution 1: mend the effin catch.
Solution 2: move your elbow leftwards.
Solution 3: don't firkin worry about it. $hit happens. :yesnod:
It will be all right in the end. If it isn't all right yet, then it is not yet the end..

Solution 4: Glue it shut
Solution 5: Buy a nice fresh leather one like the one I have sat in a box upstairs!
Solution 6: gaffer tape

Mine used to do it all the time too, some times the "male" part of the catch gets dislodged and falls into the inside of the cubby. my solution was to glue the bit into the cubby lid permanently.

I'll phone ahead to Leeds A&E and warn them that Andy will be along shortly with a cubby lid glued to his fingers .... :coffee:

Andy

I've swapped my original plastic one for a leather version which looks and feels much nicer. The original didn't suffer the problem you describe so it may have a better catch than yours perhaps.

Anyway, if you want it PM me your address and I'll put it in the post.
