You will never have total confidence in the car. It is the MG way. 
To put it in perspective my van is in Renault at the moment. The bill is now up to around £700 and they told me the bearings were on the way out on the alternator. Don't worry though, they can fit me a new one for £450 +VAT + 2 hours labour........Bahahahahahahah........I think I will do the alternator myself.
