Got any TF dash out pics or tips? 11 years 1 month ago #108976

Hi all, I'm going to attempt checking the hose connections on my heater matrix soon as I suspect it has a slight leak that I just can't get at.

So, if you've any pics with your TF dash out I'd appreciate you posting them up to give me more of a clue and help me with this steep learning curve please. Tips are also welcome. :)

The pics I have seen have scared me to death. I'm sure it'll be loads of fun. :omg:

Much obliged
Leigh

Before you take this leap, have you checked the valve for leaks? Also check the open area behind the centre console for dampness, because that's where any matrix leaks would end up.

Also if you are checking inside the car for leaks heres a good little cheat

Use some old fashioned blotting paper it will show up pink when you dab the carpets

Just caught your reply as I'm going out of the door Jon. I put some kitchen roll under the centre console area up front and found the pink bits already. So, I figure there must be a leak coming from that area (when it gets hot after 40 minutes or so and the heater then blows cold for a little while then it ultimately overheats). I was going to attempt trying to fix that prior to a pressure test.

I'd be happy if it was something as simple as hgf. All I seem to be doing lately is chasing leaks and being welsh doesn't help.

Rightio, must 'dash' now. Thanks for the top tips already folks. :broon:

PS. I'll put that tip in the words of wisdom thread later. Good stuff. Cheers.

Just a thought before you rip out the dash

You don't have to remove the dash to take out the heater matrix, it can be done with the dash still in place

You need to take the centre of the dash out, the bit with the radio
Also you console with the handbrake on it
Take out the box section of tin plate that hold your radio, you'll then be able to get to the bolts on the front of the blower box
Take off the triangle panels either side of the foot wells, on the right remove the pipes for the heater matrix and the two screws holding the control valve to the blower box
On the left remove the inlet pipe and wires, also at the bottom of the blower at the back is a bolt holding the blower box
Remove the centre vents on the dash by pulling
Most importantly remove the bleed screw front the front bulkhead or it wont pull out

Remove the full blower box by twisting to the passenger side and sort of rolling out

This is just an off the top of my head recall from the last one I did but I'm sure you get the idea
