Surely it cant just sit on the carpet the idea of a piece of loose sheet metal behind your head in a collision don't sound good I know there the headrest and possibly the wind stop in between but even so.
These shiney things are a good case for plasti-dipping to suit your cars colour. I wouldn't spray my whole car, I don't have the skills, but I might spray this so that it couldn't be seen from space or blind a jet pilot taking off.
